Help Drive a Senior in Need

Ozaukee County is both a rural and suburban community, with about a quarter of its population being ages 60 and older. This number is set to only increase. Many of these aging seniors cannot drive themselves anymore, and contact us for rides for medical, financial, or location reasons. As this number increases, so does the need for volunteers to help assist them.

With Ozaukee County’s unique layout, we face challenges in trying to help our seniors be as independent as possible so they can remain in their homes, while offering the help and respect they deserve.

Ozaukee County has the oldest population in the Southeast Wisconsin, with 17.5% of people over age 65, that’s more than 2% higher than the state average.

Our Challenges

Your Opportunities

Many of our seniors are in need of services that are outside the county limits such as critical medical appointments in Milwaukee.
While a 5 minute drive to the store is convenient, it doesn’t give you time to build a relationship. And, leverage the “downtime” you’ve got during the appointment to get caught up on your reading!
Since there are limited transportation options in Ozaukee County, programs such as Drive.Give.Serve are necessary to help seniors in our community.
Many people need rides to places you already go – church, the grocery store, and the bank! Drive.Give.Serve provides the opportunity to help a neighbor.
Driving across a more rural community can take a longer time commitment.
We can match you up with an assignment and driving distance that works best in your schedule. If you only have just enough time for some grocery shopping at the store a few miles down, the need is there for that too!
Our sprawling, rural areas present a unique driving challenge in Ozaukee County.
As beautiful as they are sprawling, Ozaukee County is also home to some of Wisconsin’s safest communities!
